gel
Ice. (Gel) The solid state of water (H₂O), formed when its temperature drops to its freezing point, 0 °C (273.15 K) under normal conditions.
As it freezes, water molecules lose energy and arrange themselves into an ordered crystalline structure. What was once liquid becomes a rigid, stable substance.
Yet this apparent stillness does not mean an absence of activity. At a microscopic scale, the molecules continue to vibrate around their positions.
Music can also begin with a stable structure: a note, a chord, a silence or a pattern that remains in place and gradually gives rise to new sounds and relationships.
Ice and music share this apparent stillness that conceals a vibration: a stable structure that continues to develop movement within.
